Santa Barbara finally has a trail running group worthy of the trails themselves. The bastard child of downhill demon and social networking maven Nancy Kaplan, this 40 person strong club has brought camaraderie, new routes, and even some healthy competition to our trail running community. Started as a Yahoo group a year ago, Facebook is the new cyber home base for the Santa Barbara Trail Runners. Check it out! The more the merrier!
Congratulations to all the folks who took on the 9-trails course over the weekend. I'm not sure who showed up besides Eric Wickland, Benjamin Bruno, and Ken Hughes, who PR'd (unofficially :) ). A family full of the flu kept me away this weekend. Ken would've kicked may ass anyways, and I'm not sure if I have the strength to carry the shame. Good work Ken!
A small group of SB Trail Runners will make their presence felt at the Leona Divide 50 on April 17th. This will be squeeze boxer Brett Larsen's first 50, and I look forward to his company out on the trail.
Question to ponder? Santa Barbara has a handful of ultra events now. Do we have enough? If not, where should our next race be?
Thank you to the kind folks at Baby Jogger. After just 6 months of abuse, our red double wide ripped in numerous places. One phone call and an email with photos attached was all it took for a new seat to be dropped in the mail.
